I'm back from the blogging version of Hades due to some minor technical issues. But the important thing is that I'm back and willing to make an effort to be somewhat intelligent rather than a moping ranter.
As all good it-girls, I'm taking the initiative to rant on what I think is great this week and why. Well, because I the only other topic that I found interesting to blog about was the opression of Neo McCarthyism and Karl Marx. Well, let's just say it's been a long week.
So.
First of all, thanks to the gospel of MOJO magazine my playlists have shifted into the dark of Joy Division and his cult following. The man of my week in music: IAN CURTIS.

I bought Joy Division's album PERMANANT, and wow, is it wonderful. Its saturated with wonderful sound. The thing that really turns people away from Joy Division is Ian Curtis's voice, which is absolutely awkward and highly creepy, as David pointed out to me last night when he tried to compare their song Dead Souls to the cover done by Nine Inch Nails. He played Joy Division's first then turned on the NIN cover, and I found that there was something missing from the NIN version. It was so...dry. It didn't have the passion and angst carried by Joy Division, it was just another chart topper whatnot. All in all, Trent Reznor can never, ever compete with Ian Curtis.
I can never change my mind about Joy Division.
And speaking of magical music...Jarvis Cocker finally came out with a solo album, although, I hate how the US gets delayed releases. It seemed like I had to wait forever! Anyway, my point is that I listened to the album, and it sounds just like I had hoped it would. My favourite song was Black Magic, it had the tune for Crimson and Clover (one of my all time favourite songs) and I just about pleasurgasmed...
Oh, and now that I've got you thinking: "Who the hell is Ian Curtis?" or "Goddamit NIN is the shit, how dare you...you Indie slut!" or "Disregarding Trent Reznor is subversive behavior and therefore you must die..." ....well then...go watch the film 24 Hour Party People (one of my favourites as well) and you'll get why I'm so hyped up about this. And despite what David may say, Jarvis Cocker makes lovely music.
